New Delhi, April 24
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a significant setback after several of its Rajya Sabha members announced they were leaving the party.
Among those who quit are senior leaders Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal. Speaking at a joint press conference, Pathak confirmed he would be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chadha said the departures were part of a larger split, claiming that nearly two-thirds of AAP’s members in the upper house had resigned and planned to align with the BJP as a separate group.
He added that other MPs, including Swati Maliwal and Harbhajan Singh, had also stepped down from the party.
According to the leaders, seven out of AAP’s 10 Rajya Sabha MPs have now quit, a move that could significantly weaken the party’s presence in Parliament.
