Ludhiana, April 23

Three private schools in Punjab’s Ludhiana received bomb threat emails on Thursday, with the messages also referring to a possible threat to railway tracks in the city. Police said no suspicious object was found after searches.

Following the alerts, police teams and bomb disposal squads were sent to the schools. The premises were evacuated as a precaution, and detailed checks were carried out. Officials said the searches did not reveal anything suspicious. After the emails mentioned railway tracks, the railway police conducted inspections at Ludhiana railway station. Authorities later confirmed that nothing unusual was detected during these checks.

Police said they are working to trace the source of the emails and verify their authenticity. The incident comes amid a series of similar threats reported in recent weeks across Punjab and Haryana, many of which were later found to be hoaxes. Earlier, schools in Chandigarh and Punjab’s Barnala had also received such emails. In those cases, too, searches did not uncover any threat. Authorities said vigilance will continue as investigations into the latest incident proceed.
