Chandigarh, October 7
Haryana’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Y Puran Kumar, has allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Sector 11 of Chandigarh on Tuesday. According to preliminary reports, the ADGP used his service revolver to take his own life earlier in the day. Police teams and forensic experts reached the spot shortly after the incident. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause and circumstances of his death. However, police have not said anythong about the death of the police officer.
Sources said Kumar’s wife, Amneet P Kumar, an IAS officer, is currently abroad as part of an official delegation accompanying the Haryana Chief Minister on a visit to Japan.
Senior police officials from both Haryana and Chandigarh are monitoring the investigation. Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the incident.
