Punjab appoints nodal officer to boost flood relief efforts

The Punjab has appointed Director Land Records, Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, as the nodal officer for the State Flood Control Room in Jalandhar to strengthen coordination and speed up relief operations in flood-hit areas. Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the control room has been central to coordinating round-the-clock with Deputy Commissioners, Army units, NDRF, SDRF and other agencies to ensure a seamless response. “With a dedicated nodal officer, we will ensure better monitoring, quick decision-making and effective liaison with field officers,” Mundian said. He added that Aulakh would maintain constant communication with local staff and provide regular updates to the state government for timely action.

The minister also directed the nodal officer to focus on proper coordination and ensure timely relief delivery. The state flood control room was set up at Circuit House, Jalandhar, on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The facility, which operates 24/7, can be reached at 0181-2240064. The control room is supervised by good governance and IT Minister Aman Arora, with Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr Himanshu Agarwal and Tourism and Cultural Affairs advisor Deepak Bali providing additional support to ensure effective functioning.
