Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has announced a Rs 25 crore project to develop a heritage street in Sri Anandpur Sahib on the occasion of the First Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bains, who represents the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, said the project will link the main Gurudwara Sahib with Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, where the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, founded the Khalsa Panth.

He said the scheme aimed to transform the sacred route into a pedestrian-friendly corridor featuring marble work, landscaped gardens and decorative lighting to create a “serene spiritual oasis.” Vehicles will not be permitted along the stretch, allowing devotees to walk in peace. The minister added that the stairs leading to Takht Sahib would be renovated with marble and intricate design, enhancing the site’s grandeur and spiritual significance.

With the tendering process completed, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is expected to inaugurate the project soon. Officials said the initiative would not only enrich the pilgrim experience but also boost local tourism.
