Jammu, April 25

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday joined an anti-drug rally in Samba district as part of the 100-day ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyan’, asserting that the youth hold the key to eliminating the drug menace.

A large number of people from different sections of society gathered at the district headquarters to support the campaign and pledge their commitment to a drug-free society. The rally is part of a broader initiative launched earlier this month to raise awareness and curb drug abuse across the Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha said the ongoing campaign aims to inspire future generations and demonstrate the impact of collective efforts in tackling social challenges. He emphasised that the responsibility for addressing the issue lies primarily with the youth and urged them to remain focused and determined.

“Their dreams are powerful, their potential limitless, and society must support them to realise those aspirations,” he said, calling on young people to stay on the right path.

The campaign began on April 11 with a padyatra in Jammu and has since expanded to multiple districts through rallies and outreach programmes led by the administration.

Alongside awareness efforts, authorities have intensified enforcement action against drug networks. In the past two weeks, several drug peddlers, including alleged kingpins, have been arrested, and properties linked to traffickers have been demolished.

The administration is continuing its combined approach of public mobilisation and strict enforcement to address the drug problem and strengthen long-term prevention efforts.
