Shimla, April 15
Unidentified persons have been booked for pelting stones at a Forest Department team transporting seized timber in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Sunday night on the Kaljel Bajli link road near Salhuni nullah when the team was moving the consignment to the Range Office in Masroond.
According to police, the Forest Department team had seized 12 timber sleepers and was transporting them when several miscreants from a hillside began attacking the vehicles with stones. The sudden assault forced the officials to halt and seek police assistance.No injuries were reported in the incident, though a Forest Department vehicle sustained damage. Officials left the spot after informing the police, while the attackers fled.
Police said a complaint was registered on Monday, and efforts are underway to identify and trace those involved in the attack. Further investigation is in progress.
