Haryana CM Saini to inaugurate fair with 300 stalls; Khattar to attend finale, Kanwar Grewal among other key attractions

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the third Surajkund Diwali Mela at the Surajkund Mela complex in Faridabad on October 23. The four-day event will conclude on October 26, with Union Minister Manohar Lal attending the closing ceremony.

Haryana Heritage and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma will also attend the inauguration. Around 300 stalls will showcase handicrafts, handloom products, traditional artwork, home decor and other festive goods.

Organised with arrangements being finalised by the Haryana Tourism Department, the fair will feature folk music, cultural performances and traditional art. Sufi and folk singer Kanwar Grewal is among the scheduled performers, alongside folk artistes and traditional dance groups.

A food court will offer regional cuisines and popular food brands, adding to the fair’s shopping and entertainment attractions.

Sharma said the mela would provide artisans and craftspeople a platform to showcase and sell their products directly to customers, while helping them connect with new markets. He said handicrafts were an integral part of India’s cultural identity and supported the livelihoods of millions.

He added that such events could help preserve traditional skills, encourage younger generations to engage with cultural heritage and generate economic activity for local businesses.

The state government is seeking to link tourism with cultural heritage, traditional crafts and employment opportunities through events such as the Surajkund Diwali Mela.

The Haryana Government and the Tourism Department have invited people from Delhi-NCR, Haryana and neighbouring states to attend the fair.
