OLED display, Dynamic Island and upgraded iPad mini among reported features ahead of October 28 event

Chandigarh: Apple is expected to announce new Mac and iPad models at an event in Los Angeles on October 28, with reports pointing to a touchscreen MacBook Pro and an upgraded iPad mini.

The company announced the event under the title “Pro and Tell”. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, teased the launch on X on Monday, writing, “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week.”

The event is expected to follow a format different from Apple’s conventional product keynotes, with invited media representatives and content creators getting hands-on access to the new devices. Apple has not confirmed which products will be unveiled.

Among the anticipated launches is a redesigned MacBook Pro with an OLED display and touchscreen functionality. Reports suggest the laptop could be offered in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, with a Dynamic Island-style interface and a lighter design. The models are tipped to use M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, though Apple has not confirmed these details.

The company is also expected to update its entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac with a newer processor while retaining their existing designs, according to technology reports.

An upgraded iPad mini is another anticipated announcement. Reports point to an OLED display, a repositioned front camera for landscape video calls and changes to the speaker system. Details about its processor and other specifications remain unconfirmed.

The event follows Apple’s October 13 product announcements, which included the HomeView smart display, HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. The company had also launched its iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo in September.

If the reported touchscreen MacBook Pro materialises, it would mark a significant change to Apple’s laptop lineup. For now, however, the company has not officially confirmed the device or its specifications.
