Rajkumar Hirani’s OTT debut, Pritam & Pedro, has become JioHotstar’s most-watched show to date, delivering the platform’s biggest opening for a scripted series and emerging as one of its biggest entertainment successes, according to the streaming platform. JioHotstar said the series has attracted viewers across the country by trending in six Indian languages apart from Hindi, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Kannada, highlighting its widespread appeal beyond its original language.
The show has received appreciation for its blend of humor, emotion and social relevance. Viewers have praised Rajkumar Hirani’s storytelling, the on-screen chemistry between Arshad Warsi and Vir, and the series’ focus on cyber fraud and online safety. The platform said the show has also become a popular family watch, generating conversations around digital awareness on social media.
JioHotstar said the success of Pritam & Pedro reflects its continued focus on supporting original stories with emotional depth and cultural relevance. The platform said it remains committed to offering a diverse slate of content, ranging from romance and slice-of-life dramas to socially relevant narratives. Commenting on the achievement, Alok Jain, Head of Hindi and English Entertainment Business for Streaming, TV and Studios at JioHotstar, said the response to Pritam & Pedro reinforces the belief that audiences are drawn to engaging stories rather than specific genres.
