Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday inaugurated a range of new facilities at the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station in SAS Nagar, aimed at enhancing the state’s capacity to investigate and combat drug related crimes through advanced technology and intelligence gathering.

The newly inaugurated infrastructure includes a Special Intelligence and Technical Unit designed to strengthen surveillance, intelligence collection, and digital evidence analysis in narcotics investigations. Additional facilities such as the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems Room, an interrogation room, the MHC room, and the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police were also made operational.

Yadav, who was accompanied by Special DGP ANTF Kuldeep Singh and ADGP ANTF Nilabh Kishore, said the upgraded facilities would improve the quality and effectiveness of anti narcotics investigations by providing investigators with better access to scientific tools, criminal databases and technical resources.

He said the dedicated ANTF complex in SAS Nagar has evolved into a modern investigation and intelligence center since its inauguration in August 2024 and now serves as a key operational hub in Punjab’s fight against drug trafficking.

Highlighting the state’s investment in strengthening the ANTF, Yadav said the government allocated Rs 11.50 crore each during 2024- 25 and 2025- 26 to upgrade surveillance systems, communication networks, cyber intelligence capabilities and digital investigation tools across ANTF headquarters and range offices. An additional Rs 14.16 crore has also been earmarked to further enhance the agency’s technical capabilities.

The DGP said modern ANTF office complexes are already functioning in Patiala, Jalandhar and Bathinda, while similar facilities are under construction in Ludhiana and Ferozepur. Plans to establish a dedicated ANTF facility in Amritsar are also progressing, with land and space already identified.

Yadav further informed that ANTF Punjab has been designated as the State Narco Coordination Center Secretariat. In this role, the agency will coordinate with various departments and enforcement agencies, facilitate intelligence sharing, and monitor anti drug initiatives across Punjab.

The expansion of ANTF infrastructure is expected to strengthen the state’s ongoing campaign against narcotics by improving operational coordination, investigation capabilities, and intelligence led enforcement across Punjab.
