Govt to distribute 31 lakh Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana cards soon: Dr. Balbir Singh

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh said on Friday that around 31 lakh Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana cards had already reached districts with another two lakh expected soon. The state government has identified around 2,008 villages and wards where more than 400 people are eligible for the cards. Special camps will be organised in these areas so that beneficiaries can collect their cards closer to home, Dr Singh said.

“Beneficiaries would be informed about the camps in advance. The ASHA workers, ASHA facilitators, Sehat Mitras and other field staff will help reach out to eligible people and encourage them to attend,” Dr Balbir Singh further said. The camp-based distribution will start after Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann formally launches the programme. The government plans to complete the distribution at these camps within a week of the launch.

He further said that for villages and wards fewer than 400 eligible beneficiaries the existing door to door system will continue. Anyone who misses the camps will also receive their card at home through ASHA workers and facilitators.

Talking about the scheme, the Health Minister further said that to make sure the cards reach people at the last mile, ASHA workers will be paid Rs 10 for each card delivered, while ASHA facilitators will receive Rs 2 per card. The  Health officials will maintain records of the deliveries and process the incentives.

The remaining cards are expected to be delivered door to door within two weeks after the camp-based distribution is completed.

The State Health Agency has already sent the cards and related material to the districts, including card jackets, envelopes and brochures.
