Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Monday criticised the Bhagwant Mann government over the law-and-order situation, alleging that repeated murders and shootings had created fear among residents. Referring to a firing incident in Moga, he questioned the state government’s claims about maintaining law and order.
In a statement issued from the BJP office in Chandigarh, Dhillon claimed that 23 police stations in Punjab had witnessed grenade attacks. He also cited an attack on the police headquarters using a rocket launcher as a reason for concern over security arrangements.
Dhillon further claimed that police personnel had received written instructions advising them not to venture outside in uniform. He also referred to the installation of protective nets outside police stations and the raising of boundary walls, questioning the state’s security preparedness.
Targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Dhillon alleged that the government was not giving adequate priority to public safety. He also criticised the Chief Minister’s foreign tours and referred to a reported customs duty issue involving his belongings after his return from abroad.
Dhillon called on the state government to take strict action against criminals, strengthen the police force and adopt effective measures to restore public confidence and ensure citizens’ safety.
