Thousands of devotees witnessed the reunion of Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati, Lord Ganesh and Kartik Swami at Dhalpur ground during the International Kullu Dussehra festival, where the four deities have been installed together in one camp to offer darshan to devotees.
The annual gathering brings together deities from different parts of Kullu district, allowing devotees to seek blessings at one place instead of travelling to their respective temples. The four deities have arrived from Kharahal, Manikaran, the Ujhi Valley and Manali.
Bijli Mahadev has arrived from Kharahal Valley, Mata Parvati from Chong village in Manikaran Valley, Lord Ganesh from Ghurdor village in the Ujhi Valley, and Kartik Swami from Simsa village near Manali.
The deities are staying in separate traditional camps at Dhalpur, with the Shiva family together in a camp near Dhalpur Hospital. Devotional singing and prayers are held in the morning and evening, followed by bhajan-kirtan sessions at night. Food and prasad are also being arranged for devotees.
Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur visited the camp and paid obeisance to the deities. He said arrangements have been made for people visiting the camps and that their concerns were being addressed. He added that the arrival of deities from across the district added to the significance of the festival.
Senior advocate Naresh Sood said he has been visiting the Shiva family during Dussehra for several years. He said devotees look forward to the festival as it offers an opportunity to pay obeisance to deities from across Kullu district at Dhalpur.
Devotee Pankaj said the reunion had moved visitors, while also allowing them to seek blessings from deities representing different parts of the district.
Another devotee, Roshan Thakur, said large crowds have been visiting the camps since the opening day. He described Kullu Dussehra as a unique gathering where devotees can get darshan of more than 300 deities at one venue.
