Shimla, April 23
An inquiry has been ordered against a government school teacher in Cheog village of Shimla district for allegedly slapping a two-and-a-half-year-old boy inside the school premises, officials said on Wednesday. The action follows a complaint filed by the child’s father, and authorities have initiated a formal probe into the incident.
According to officials, the inquiry will be conducted by the Block Elementary Education Officer, who has been tasked with examining the allegations and submitting a report, based on which further action will be decided. In his written complaint, the child’s father alleged that the incident occurred after his son soiled himself in the classroom, following which the teacher slapped him. He claimed the incident left other children in the class frightened.
The complainant further alleged that when he confronted the teacher, she responded defiantly and claimed to have strong connections with senior authorities. He also alleged that she asked him not to send his children to the school anymore.
School principal Sandeep Sharma confirmed that a complaint has been received and said that a detailed inquiry is underway. He added that the teacher, in her initial response, stated that the child had smeared faeces on another student, which led to the situation.
Authorities said appropriate action will be taken after the inquiry report is submitted. The incident has raised concerns among parents regarding student safety and conduct within schools.
