Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi on Monday evening, as early election trends show the party in a strong position in both West Bengal and Assam. The visit, scheduled for 6pm , was announced by BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni in a post on the social media platform X.

Early counting trends indicate the BJP has taken a significant lead in West Bengal, a state long governed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Data from the Election Commission of India shows the party ahead in 152 seats, while the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is leading in 81 in the 294-member assembly.

If sustained, the trend could mark a major political shift in the eastern state, where the BJP has been working to expand its influence in recent years. In Assam, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is also ahead, leading in a majority of seats based on early trends from more than 98 constituencies. The numbers point to a strong showing by the BJP and its reginal allies.

The twin leads have buoyed party workers, with attention now turning to the final outcome as counting progresses through multiple rounds across both states.
