New Delhi, April 16
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India is all set to take a “historic step” towards women’s empowerment as a special session of Parliament begins. In a message shared on X, the prime minister linked the move to what he described as the country’s long-standing values, saying respect for women reflects respect for the nation.
“From today’s special session of Parliament, our country is moving towards a major step for women’s empowerment,” he wrote, adding that the government remains committed to advancing this goal.
Modi also shared a Sanskrit verse, highlighting the role of women in spreading knowledge and dispelling ignorance. The verse suggests that societies progress when women are respected and empowered.
