The actor says digitally changing a person’s appearance should require their consent
Chandigarh: National award winning actress Yami Gautam has raised concerns over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for altering and enhancing celebrities’ photographs without their consent. The actress recently took to her social media to request the media to use her pictures in their original form.
The actress posted a story on her Instagram handle in which she said,, “ A sincere request to the media. Please refrain from using AI to alter or enhance my photographs from public appearances. Kindly use images in their original form.”
She also highlighted the importance of consent when it comes to digitally modifying someone’s image. Her statement came at a time when AI-generated and digitally manipulated content had become increasingly common across social media and entertainment platforms.
However Yami didn’t mention any photograph or publication that prompted her appeal. Instead, her post focussed on the broader issue of responsible use of AI and the need to respect the identity and consent of an individual.
The actor’s statement has also brought attention to the growing debate around AI, privacy and authenticity in the entertainment industry. While AI technology offers new creative possibilities, its use to modify people’s appearances without permission continues to raise concerns among celebrities and audiences alike.
