The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to begin tunnel construction near Bindu Dhank in Kullu district to address recurring road damage during the monsoon.
Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh directed NHAI officials at Patlikuhal to coordinate with the state government to improve road infrastructure and minimise traffic disruptions.
Singh said coordinated efforts were essential to prevent delays in road projects on state and national highways. He also asked officials to focus on national highways and adjoining roads, which often face closures during the rainy season, putting additional pressure on connecting routes.
The minister said the state government would meet companies operating in the hydropower sector to explore measures to reduce damage caused by the Beas during the monsoon.
While dredging work was underway in the river, Singh said further steps were needed to prevent damage from accumulated debris. He also called for improvements to connecting roads to manage traffic when national highways remained closed.
