Kangra youth to interact with PM Modi on August 27, three day sports events to follow

PM Modi to interact with youth digitally on August 27, followed by sports activities, cycling, yoga and fitness events at SAI Centre Dharamshala.

Kangra will host a three-day program to connect youth with sports, encourage athletes, and promote sportsmanship, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to interact digitally with youngsters on August 27.

The digital interaction will be held at NIFT Kangra, where youth from around 1,400 locations across the country are expected to join. Kangra MP Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj will attend the event as the chief guest.

My Bharat Kangra, Deputy Director Dhruv Dogra said four SAI athletes would also share their experiences with the participants. The athletes include two from athletics, one from cycling and one from weightlifting.

Dogra said technical testing had been completed with support from NIC, and a mock drill was being conducted at NIFT to ensure smooth arrangements during the Prime Minister’s interaction.

Meanwhile, SAI Center Dharamshala Assistant Director JP Sahni said various sports activities would be organized from August 28 to 30 to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

The program will include activities under themes such as ‘Play Game’ and ‘Move’. On August 29, athletes and staff of the SAI Center will participate in different sporting activities as part of the celebrations.

On the final day, a ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event will feature cycling, yoga and rope-skipping activities. Kangra Superintendent of Police has been invited to the program, while Acharya Shri Ranjit Singh from Trigart Yoga will also participate.

Organizers said the events aim to increase youth participation in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle and sportsmanship among young people.
