Haryana is all set to conduct urban local body elections on May 10 across multiple civic bodies, with the State Election Commission completing preparations for smooth and peaceful polling.

State Election Commissioner Devender Singh Kalyan said elections will be held for the Municipal Corporations of Ambala, Panchkula, and Sonipat, as well as for the Municipal Council of Rewari and the Municipal Committees of Sampla, Dharuhera, and Uklana.

Apart from the general elections, by-elections will also be held for six vacant ward seats across different municipal bodies. Officials said three ward seats have already been decided unopposed.

To ensure fair polling, the commission has appointed General Observers, Police Observers, and Expenditure Observers across all election areas. Training of polling staff has also been completed by the district administrations.

According to the commission, more than 8.7 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in these elections. A total of 659 polling booths have been set up in Ambala, Panchkula, and Sonipat, with additional booths established in Rewari, Sampla, Dharuhera, and Uklana.

The elections will be conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the NOTA option. However, VVPAT machines will not be used during the polling process.

The Election Commissioner appealed to voters to participate actively in the elections and contribute to strengthening democratic values through voting.
