Chandigarh, July 8
The All Haryana PWD Contractors Association will hold a crucial General Body Meeting (GBM) on July 9 to discuss long-pending issues and demands concerning contractors across the state. The meeting, initially scheduled for July 8, was postponed due to the Engineer-in-Chief (Roads )’s unavailability.
Association President Jai Bhagwan Jakhar and Chairman Ashok Jain said the Association had written to the Engineer-in-Chief (Buildings) and the Head of the Haryana Public Works (Buildings & Roads) Department, seeking permission to hold the rescheduled meeting at 10.30 a.m. on July 9 at the Convention Hall, Ground Floor, Nirman Sadan, Sector 33-A, Chandigarh.
Contractors from across Haryana are expected to attend the meeting, where several key issues affecting the construction sector will be discussed. These include the shortage of raw materials, the unprecedented increase in their prices, delays in the release of nearly Rs 900 crore in pending payments, the tendering process, departmental policies and other unresolved concerns impacting contractors.
The Association said the meeting would also serve as a platform to collectively present these issues before the concerned departmental authorities and seek their early resolution.
The office-bearers appealed to all members to attend the meeting on time and actively participate so that issues related to the welfare and interests of contractors could be effectively raised.
