‘Drug trafficking will be destroyed’: Haryana DIG at Panchkula seminar

Haryana Police on Monday reiterated its commitment to eliminating narcotics trafficking during a seminar organised under the statewide ‘Drug-Free Haryana’ campaign at Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula.

The campaign, being conducted by the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau from 11 June to 26 June 2026, is being organised under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar and inspired by Director General of Police Ajay Singhal to fulfill Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s vision of a drug-free Haryana.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, DIG Sunil Dalal said the police had successfully curbed drug trafficking in the state and vowed to intensify efforts further.

“We have broken the network of narcotics trafficking in Haryana and will destroy it completely in the future,” Dalal said. He added that illegal narcotic substances entering Haryana from other states must be stopped effectively.

Chairing the seminar, DCP Srishti Gupta said the police department would undertake a comprehensive campaign in Panchkula to realise the vision of a drug-free Haryana.

She said efforts would be made to involve all sections of society in the campaign and stressed that collaboration between the police and educational institutions was essential to address the growing menace of drug abuse.

Speaking as the keynote speaker, Dr Leeju described the youth as the nation’s greatest asset and said the country’s future depended on their well-being. He held a detailed interaction with students on the harmful effects of drugs and encouraged them to stay away from substance abuse.

Welcoming the participants, DSP Harvinder Singh said de-addiction centers in the state would be strengthened to help achieve the goal of a healthy Haryana.

During the seminar, PRO Outreach Rajiv Ranjan, who conducted the session, said individuals could become role models for the youth only by keeping themselves away from addictions and harmful habits.

Inspector Mange Ram was specially acknowledged for his contribution to the successful organisation of the event.

Senior police officials, staff members, ITI students, government school students, and teachers attended the programme.

The anti-drug campaign commenced at Chaudhary Devi Lal University in Sirsa and will conclude at the NIT campus in Faridabad on 26 June 2026. The campaign schedule includes events in Fatehabad, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Kaithal, Jhajjar, Sonipat, and Gurugram.
