New Delhi, May 1
Aviation turbine fuel prices for domestic airlines remained unchanged on Friday, offering relief to carriers, while commercial LPG and small cylinders saw a sharp increase in line with rising global energy costs.
State-owned oil companies maintained ATF rates for domestic carriers at existing levels, even as international airlines’ prices were raised. “There is no change in ATF prices for domestic airlines and key fuels affecting the general public,” Indian Oil Corporation said in a statement.
Commercial LPG prices were increased by Rs 993 to reach a record Rs 3,071.50 per 19 kg cylinder, while 5 kg cylinders also saw a steep hike. Bulk diesel rates for industrial users were raised to reflect higher international fuel prices.
Officials said the pricing decisions were part of a calibrated approach to balance global market trends while shielding domestic consumers. Petrol, diesel, and household LPG prices remained unchanged. The move is expected to provide temporary stability to domestic airlines, while higher commercial fuel costs may impact businesses in the hospitality and industrial sectors in the coming period.
