Panchkula, May 13

Amid the ongoing counting process for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections, the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party raised concerns over the conduct of vote counting and alleged irregularities in the process.

Congress mayoral candidate Sudha Bhardwaj accused officials of tampering with machines and termed the situation a “murder of democracy.” She alleged that CCTV cameras at the counting centre remained switched off for nearly one and a half hours two days before the counting process began.

Speaking to the media, Bhardwaj demanded transparency in the counting procedure and questioned the functioning of the election authorities. Aam Aadmi Party mayoral candidate Rajesh Manocha also raised objections regarding the counting process and sought clarity over the arrangements made at the counting centre.

Congress councillor candidate Rajneesh Singla also expressed concerns and supported the demand for a fair and transparent counting process. Election officials are yet to issue an official response to the allegations made by the opposition candidates.
