CM Sukhu says committee will expose alleged BJP-era corruption; hits out at opposition walkout over employment debate

Shimla , August 25

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday accused the BJP of engaging in “issue-less politics” in the Assembly and said a White Paper Committee constituted to examine alleged corruption during the previous BJP government would place its findings before the public.

CM Sukhu said the committee was investigating alleged irregularities during the BJP’s tenure and would bring the facts to light after completing its inquiry.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came after BJP MLAs staged a walkout from the Assembly during the fourth day of the Monsoon Session following a discussion on employment during the Question Hour.

CM Sukhu said the Speaker had given the opposition adequate opportunity to raise questions and allowed a discussion on the employment issue for nearly half an hour. He said the BJP’s insistence on asking additional questions before walking out of the House was not justified.

The Chief Minister said important issues, including health and employment, were scheduled to be discussed in the Assembly and assured that the government was ready to respond to every question raised by the Opposition.

CM Sukhu also alleged large-scale irregularities in the HIMCARE scheme and said an investigation was underway. He said the state government was committed to providing high-tech healthcare services to the people of Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid heightened political tensions between the ruling Congress and Opposition BJP during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
