Saffron party protests four-year restriction on heavy vehicles at Bhootnath Bridge, poor condition of Sarvari road

Kullu, September 10

The BJP on Thursday staged a protest in Kullu over what it termed long-pending infrastructure issues, including the continued restriction on heavy vehicles on the Bhootnath Bridge and the poor condition of the Sarvari road.

Organised by the Kullu BJP Mandal, the protest began at Dhalpur and proceeded towards the Bhootnath Bridge. BJP workers raised slogans against the state government and demanded that the issues be resolved.

BJP leader Narottam Thakur said heavy vehicles had been barred from the Bhootnath Bridge for nearly four years, causing inconvenience to residents. He also alleged that the Sarvari road had remained in poor condition for the past four years.

Thakur targeted Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, alleging that the legislator was talking about a new bridge while existing infrastructure problems remained unresolved.

He further alleged that the MLA was inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects initiated during the previous BJP government rather than taking up new development works.

Thakur said the BJP would support the MLA on genuine development initiatives, but accused him of making promises that were misleading the public.

The BJP said the protest was part of a wider campaign and announced that demonstrations would be held in every mandal of the Kullu Assembly constituency in the coming days to highlight public issues and seek their resolution.
