The Municipal Corporation has proposed a budget of over Rs 1.32 crore for the 55th Rose Festival, scheduled to be held in March 2027. The proposal will be placed before the MC General House for approval at its meeting on October 28.
According to official sources, the civic body has invited expressions of interest from reputed agencies, companies, individuals and property owners to sponsor the three-day festival. However, no sponsorship offers have been received so far. If sponsorship is not secured, the MC will bear the estimated expenditure.
The festival is expected to feature a range of competitions and activities. These include flower arrangement, rangoli, Rose Prince and Rose Princess contests, painting, folk dance, photography and quizzes. A separate competition will recognise neighbourhood parks maintained by Residents Welfare Associations and Group Housing Societies.
The proposed budget will cover cultural evenings, waterproof tentage and furniture for various events, decorative and lighting arrangements, CCTV cameras, festival branding, prizes, gifts and mementoes.
The expenditure estimate of over Rs 1.32 crore has been prepared for the 55th edition of the festival. The civic body’s proposal outlines the spending required to organise the event and its associated activities over three days.
The sponsorship invitation is intended to seek support from agencies, companies, individuals, and property owners. The proposal does not identify any sponsor, as no offers have been received so far. In the absence of sponsorship, the corporation has stated that it will meet the estimated cost.
The budget proposal is listed among the items for consideration at the MC General House meeting on October 28. The House will be asked to formally approve the proposed expenditure. The information provided does not specify whether the proposal has already received approval.
The proposal remains subject to consideration by the General House.
