Palampur, April 15

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday launched its Congress Remove campaign in Palampur, where around 400 families joined the party in the presence of state president Rajeev Bindal, marking a political shift in the constituency. The campaign was initiated by the urban and rural mandals of the Palampur Assembly constituency. Addressing the gathering, Rajeev Bindal welcomed the new entrants into the party by offering them party scarves. Party leaders described the development as a setback for the Congress in a region that has traditionally been considered its stronghold.

According to party representatives, several families decided to switch allegiance, citing dissatisfaction with Congress’s policies. They also raised concerns about development in the constituency, stating that despite being in power for over a decade, the Congress leadership had not delivered the expected progress.

Leaders further claimed that offices opened during the previous BJP government were shut down after the change in administration under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, causing inconvenience to residents. They said such issues contributed to the growing support for the BJP in the region.

Speaking at the event, Bindal raised concerns about law and order in Himachal Pradesh, citing recent incidents in districts such as Chamba and Mandi. He alleged that cases of violence and gang-related activities have been reported from areas including Una, Bilaspur, Nalagarh, and Sirmaur.

He further alleged that the state government has failed to take effective decisions and that people are facing difficulties as a result.

The development signals an intensifying political contest in Palampur ahead of future electoral battles, with the BJP attempting to consolidate support while mounting criticism against the ruling Congress government.
