Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal on Wednesday accused the Congress and INDIA bloc of attempting to destabilise the Central government by creating political unrest, alleging that the opposition wanted to push India towards a situation similar to Bangladesh.
Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Bindal accused the Congress and its allies of undermining democratic institutions and violating constitutional principles. He said the BJP would organise four marches across Himachal Pradesh under the campaign ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’.
The first march will be held in Dharamshala on October 30, followed by a march in Shimla on November 1. The Shimla procession will begin at the Old Bus Stand and conclude at Chaura Maidan, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma scheduled to lead it. Further marches will be held in Mandi and Hamirpur on November 4.
Bindal also questioned the Congress’s record on democracy, alleging that the party had weakened democratic institutions in the past, including by dismissing elected governments and making constitutional changes during the Emergency.
Targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over his claim of returning to power, Bindal dismissed the assertion as “Mungerilal ke haseen sapne”. He said people had not forgotten what he described as the hardships faced by the state over the past four years and would respond to the Congress in the next elections.
The allegations against the Congress and INDIA bloc were made by Bindal during the press conference.
