Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday announced a public holiday for both men and women on Karwa Chauth on October 29, expanding the holiday previously granted mainly to women.
Under the announcement, all government offices, government and private schools, and colleges across the state will remain closed on Thursday to mark the festival.

The decision follows a similar move on Raksha Bandhan, when men were also granted a holiday. The announcement allows both spouses to celebrate Karwa Chauth together.
