BJP MLA Bikram Thakur of Jaswan-Pragpur claimed the party remained united while the Congress faced internal differences over the chief ministerial post. Speaking to the media at Kangra airport, he accused the Congress of portraying the BJP as divided to conceal its own internal conflict.
Thakur said Congress leaders were projecting Vikramaditya Singh as a potential chief ministerial candidate and urged the party to address its internal differences. He said BJP leaders were organising programmes across Himachal Pradesh under the directions of the party high command to strengthen the organisation.
He added that the BJP was working to strengthen its booth-level network ahead of the Assembly elections, with party MLAs, candidates and organisational leaders involved in preparations. He expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in the state.
Thakur said the opposition would arrive fully prepared for the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly at Tapovan. It would raise public-interest issues, submit questions and seek discussions on important matters. He expected heated exchanges during the session.
Reacting to speculation that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu might contest the next Assembly election from Dehra, Thakur said CM Sukhu would lose regardless of the constituency he chose. He claimed that voters would support the BJP in the upcoming elections.
