The Chandigarh Administration has revoked the six-month suspension of Rapido’s aggregator license after 45 days, following the company’s appeal. UT Transport Secretary Diprava Lakra issued the order on Tuesday, allowing operations to resume under intensive surveillance for two months to ensure compliance with local transport rules.
Rapido, operated by M/s Roppen Transportation Services Private Limited, received its aggregator licence on October 23, 2023, under the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2020. The licence later came under the Chandigarh Administration Motor Vehicles Aggregators Rules, 2025.
The State Transport Authority (STA) suspended the licence for six months on September 8, following inspections and a show-cause notice issued in October 2025.
Challenging the suspension, the company argued that the shutdown had caused commercial losses and threatened the livelihoods of nearly 30,000 registered drivers and their dependents.
While reviewing the appeal, Lakra noted that Rapido had already served 45 days of the suspension and observed that imposing the maximum penalty at the first instance appeared excessive.
