The police have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of Nawab Khan in Dakala village of Patiala district. Investigators suspect previous enmity between the deceased and the accused may have led to the killing.
According to the police, Khan was allegedly abducted near a petrol pump in Dakala by occupants of a black Scorpio SUV. He was allegedly killed inside the vehicle with sharp-edged weapons and his body was dumped in a drain near Kalajhar village in Sangrur district.
Investigators said the deceased and the accused knew each other before the incident. The Scorpio allegedly used in the crime had been hired on rent.
The police are questioning the arrested accused to establish the sequence of events and ascertain the motive behind the murder. Efforts are also underway to recover the weapons allegedly used in the crime and determine whether others were involved.
Further details are expected to emerge at a police press conference. SP-D Rajesh Chhibber has been identified in connection with the case, but no statement from the officer was available in the information provided.
