The Ropar Druggists and Chemists Association has directed chemists to suspend the sale of all habit-forming medicines, including Pregabalin, with immediate effect until further instructions from the Punjab Chemists Association (PCA).

In a notice issued by the association, all unit presidents, secretaries and members have been directed to implement the collective decision and ensure that it is communicated to every chemist in their respective areas.

Regarding existing stocks, the association has instructed chemists to take necessary steps strictly in accordance with applicable laws and authorised return procedures.

Unit presidents and secretaries have been asked to circulate the notice immediately and ensure that all chemists are clearly informed about the decision.

The association has also directed members to report any difficulties, requests for clarification or other issues concerning implementation without delay.

According to the notice, the decision has been taken in view of the current situation to demonstrate the chemists’ commitment to responsible pharmacy practices, support efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard the reputation of the chemist fraternity.

The association has warned against negligence or a casual approach to implementing the instructions and called on all units to ensure strict compliance.

The notice concluded with the message: “Chemists sell medicines, NOT DRUGS.”
