Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi faces uncertainty after the police reportedly denied permission for the event, citing threat-related inputs and security concerns during the festive season.
A letter issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, to ticketing platform BookMyShow reportedly stated that the request to organise the Delhi leg of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour could not be approved.
The concert was originally scheduled for November 1 but was moved to October 30 after Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Sahney and the Punjabi Promotion Council appealed to Dosanjh to avoid holding the event on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The reported denial has raised questions about the show’s future. It remains unclear whether the organisers will seek fresh permission, explore an alternative venue or reschedule the event. Details regarding ticket refunds and other arrangements are also awaited.
The Delhi show was set to open the India leg of the Aura Tour, with subsequent concerts scheduled in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow. Chandigarh has also been listed as a tour stop, with its date and venue yet to be announced.
The organisers are yet to confirm whether the Delhi concert will be cancelled or rescheduled.
