From filmmaking and writing to 3D animation and AI art, the MAAC Chandigarh alumna is carving her own space in the creative world.
Chandigarh: “Dream big, work hard, stay humble and never stop believing, because success is just dedication in disguise.” For filmmaker, writer and digital artist Anant Kaurrrr, this philosophy reflects a creative journey shaped by perseverance, imagination and a desire to tell stories that leave a lasting impression.
An alumna of MAAC Chandigarh, Kaurrrr works across filmmaking, writing, 3D art and artificial intelligence. As the creator and founder of Infiimix, she brings together diverse creative disciplines, exploring how visual storytelling can communicate ideas that resonate with audiences.
Her projects span a range of themes, from everyday acts of kindness to the personal histories and cultural roots behind familiar experiences. What connects them is her belief that even the simplest stories can carry powerful messages.
From disappointment to a breakthrough
Kaurrrr’s journey into filmmaking took a decisive turn during her third year of study. Recalling the experience, she says, “When I was in my third year of studying filmmaking, there was a competition called the 24FPS International Awards. I participated twice but won no awards, and I was thoroughly disappointed. So, I sat with myself and started thinking about whether I was doing something wrong.”
That moment of introspection became a turning point. Stepping beyond her familiar VFX territory, she decided to write and direct her first short film, Kshitij – The Leap of Faith.
The gamble paid off. The film earned a nomination and went on to win the Best Animation Film of the Year award at the 24FPS International Animation Awards, marking a significant milestone in her creative journey.
Finding meaning in the little things
What followed was a series of short films that explored human emotions, social realities and the significance of seemingly small gestures.
One such project was Bugni, described as “a little tale about a big thing we often forget”. Centred on kindness and the idea of helping others, the film reminds viewers that making a difference does not always require money, resources or extraordinary abilities. Sometimes, all it takes is the right intention. Its guiding thought, “Jinna ho sake, unna kar lo” — do whatever you can — captures the essence of the film: even the smallest act of kindness can have a meaningful impact.
With The Final Plate, a Hindi short drama, Kaurrrr turned her attention to food and the stories that shape it. The film follows a chef and his craft, exploring the personal experiences and cultural roots behind his culinary journey. It suggests that the story behind a dish can be just as significant as what ultimately finds its way onto the plate.
Questioning the contradictions around the divine feminine
In Devi, Kaurrrr confronts a pressing social question: women’s safety beyond the sanctity and reverence associated with the goddess’s idol in a temple.
Reflecting on the film in the wake of the just concluded Navratri, she speaks candidly about the emotions that shaped it.
“I made Devi with a lot of love, anger and everything I could not put into words. I poured my heart into the film. But tell me, if a Devi is sacred inside a temple, why does she become ordinary the moment she steps out and needs safety even to reach back home?” she asks.
The question lies at the heart of the film, drawing attention to the contradiction between the worship of the divine feminine and the everyday realities women continue to face. Through Devi, Kaurrrr turns an intensely personal response into a broader reflection on safety, dignity and society’s responsibilities towards women.
A story of dreams cut short
Another notable project in her portfolio is Hamari Abha, a 10-minute short film about a 15-year-old girl whose dreams of continuing her education are shattered when her father forcibly marries her off.
The film examines the devastating consequences of child marriage and the loss of opportunities that follows when a young girl’s aspirations are denied. Its selection for the 24FPS International Animation Awards further brought recognition to Kaurrrr’s work as a storyteller willing to engage with difficult social realities.
The art and craft of VFX
While storytelling has become central to her creative identity, Kaurrrr’s technical foundation lies in visual effects. She began learning VFX as early as Class 10, a skill she says has significantly shaped her filmmaking practice.
“I was in Class 10 when I learnt VFX, and that has helped me a lot as a filmmaker. There is a lot of scope for VFX in the creative world of cinema,” she says.
Her professional experience includes working as a VFX artist on Punjabi films such as Challa Mud Ke Ni Aaya and Maud. This combination of technical expertise and storytelling allows her to approach filmmaking from both artistic and visual perspectives.
Kaurrrr has also won a Gold Award for Best CG Lighting at the national level. Recalling the recognition, she describes being nominated and invited to Mumbai as an unforgettable experience. However, the moment she received the trophy remains especially memorable.
“Holding the trophy in my hands was a feeling beyond what words can ever describe,” she says.
For an artist working across multiple disciplines, the recognition was more than an accolade. It was an affirmation of the dedication, technical precision and creative vision required to bring digital worlds to life.
Looking ahead
Through her work, Kaurrrr brings together storytelling, visual experimentation and a belief in the power of ideas that matter. Whether exploring kindness in Bugni, tracing the roots of a chef’s craft in The Final Plate, questioning social contradictions in Devi or highlighting the consequences of child marriage in Hamari Abha, her projects move between emotion, technology and imagination.
Her journey is a reminder that creative success rarely stems from a single breakthrough. More often, it is built through persistence, a willingness to experiment and the courage to keep telling stories worth sharing.
And she is only getting started.
Talking about her future plans, Kaurrrr says, “I am coming up with big music videos, OTT web series and some feature films.”
With new projects on the horizon and plenty of stories still waiting to be told, she signs off looking ahead to the next chapter of her creative journey.
