Police advise tourists against unnecessary travel as snowfall continues at Shinkula, Baralacha La and Kunzum passes
Kullu-Manali: Fresh snowfall in high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district has prompted the authorities to suspend vehicle movement towards Shinkula Top, Baralacha La Top and Kunzum Top as a precautionary measure. Kullu, meanwhile, is experiencing rainfall.
Continuous snowfall has been reported at the three mountain passes, as well as Koksar and Jispa, raising concerns over road conditions and the safety of travellers. Temperatures have also dropped across the region.
The Lahaul-Spiti police have advised tourists and residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the spell of inclement weather. Travellers have been urged to check the latest weather and road advisories before heading towards high-altitude areas.
The police have also asked the public to follow traffic restrictions and instructions issued by personnel on the ground to prevent untoward incidents.
While rainfall has affected Kullu, snowfall continues across elevated parts of Lahaul-Spiti, prompting precautionary restrictions on access to the three passes. No timeline for resuming vehicle movement has been provided.
