Anurag Thakur takes aim at Congress, says ‘khatara model’ delivered

Anurag Thakur questions Congress’s unfulfilled election promises, state debt and stance on Vande Mataram, accusing the party of indulging in appeasement politics.

Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Congress government during a former employees’ cell conference organised by the BJP’s Kangra organizational district at a private hotel in Dharamshala.

Addressing reporters after the event, Thakur mocked Congress’s election promises, saying Rahul Gandhi had promised a “khatakhat” model four years ago, but the party delivered a “khatara model” instead. He alleged that the state treasury had been emptied and said it was time for Congress to be voted out of power.

Thakur claimed Himachal Pradesh has accumulated around Rs 1.10 lakh crore in debt. He questioned the government over promises including Rs 1,500 monthly assistance for women, five lakh jobs, benefits for farmers and milk producers, and 300 units of free electricity.

On vigilance investigations involving BJP leaders, Thakur said the truth would emerge after the investigations and added that any politically motivated cases would also be exposed.

Commenting on the ongoing controversy over the national song Vande Mataram, Thakur said the conference began with the song, which takes around three minutes and ten seconds to sing. He questioned whether Congress and the Gandhi family could not spare even that much time for the national song.

Thakur accused Congress of pursuing vote-bank politics and appeasement and said the party should clarify its position on respecting Vande Mataram. He stressed that no family can be above the Constitution and Parliament.
