Shimla, July 10

With the monsoon triggering heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh, the state government has stepped up its preparedness to ensure public safety. Education Minister Rohit Thakur announced that all Deputy Commissioners have been empowered to decide whether schools should remain open or be closed based on local weather conditions.

The minister emphasized that the safety of children remains the government’s top priority and that no risks will be taken amid the ongoing spell of intense rain. As a precautionary measure, schools in Solan and Sirmaur districts have been closed today due to heavy rainfall.

Rohit Thakur also stated that the government has directed all departments to remain on high alert during the monsoon season. To minimize disruptions during the apple harvesting season and ensure the safety of tourists, the concerned departments have been instructed to restore roads and maintain connectivity in affected areas as quickly as possible.
