Panchkula Police arrest man with illegal country made pistol and live cartridges

The Detective Staff of Panchkula Police arrested a man with an illegal country-made pistol and two live cartridges during an operation based on specific intelligence, officials said. According to ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj, the Detective Staff received information on July 3, 2026, that Harshdeep Singh alias Kandi (31), a resident of Jagadhri, was present near the Barwala Tehsil Office carrying an illegal firearm. Acting swiftly, a police team led by Detective Staff In-charge Tejinder Pal Singh reached the spot and apprehended the accused.

During the search, police recovered one illegal country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the accused’s possession. He failed to produce any valid license or permit for the weapon. DCP Crime and Traffic Amarinder Singh said a case under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Chandimandir Police Station. During interrogation, the accused made varying disclosures regarding the purchase of the weapon. Police have verified the locations he identified during the investigation. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.

DCP Amarinder Singh said the district police will continue to take strict legal action against anyone found possessing illegal weapons, involved in their sale or purchase, or engaged in criminal activities.
