Ambala, July 1

Haryana Police’s Ambala Range has carried out a special campaign against drug trafficking, recovering drugs worth nearly Rs 7.5 crore within one month. The operation resulted in the arrest of 104 alleged drug peddlers and action against properties linked to illegal drug activities.

During the crackdown, police identified 182 properties allegedly created through proceeds from the drug trade. Out of these, 17 illegal properties were demolished as part of the action against the narcotics network.

Police also helped hundreds of people affected by drug addiction by providing rehabilitation support during the campaign.

The operation was carried out after police launched a focused strategy to curb the growing drug menace in the region. Authorities identified drug hotspots and increased surveillance in these areas. Police installed CCTV cameras and involved members of the public to assist in monitoring suspicious activities.

Ambala Range Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain said the department had prepared a special plan to tackle drug trafficking and strengthen action against those involved in the illegal trade.

The Ambala Range shares borders with Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and police believe this geographical location has contributed to the spread of drug-related activities in the area. Officials said several of the accused arrested were from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

Police said continued vigilance and coordinated efforts could help control the drug problem and improve the situation.
