A state-level programme was organised in Panchkula on the occasion of World Bee Day, where Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana participated in the event held at Red Bishop. Beekeepers from across Haryana attended the programme, during which the Chief Minister distributed incentive amounts to apiculture farmers.

Addressing the gathering, Saini said beekeeping was essential not only for honey production but also for agriculture, environmental protection and human survival. He said the declining bee population, due to pollution, pesticide use, deforestation, and climate change, was a matter of concern and urged farmers to adopt beekeeping alongside traditional farming practices.

The Chief Minister said Haryana had introduced a Beekeeping Policy in 2021 to promote the sector and set targets to increase the number of beekeepers to 7,750 and honey production to 15,500 metric tonnes by 2030. He added that the government was providing a subsidy of up to 85 per cent on bee boxes, colonies, and equipment.

Saini also announced that beekeeping had been included under the Chief Minister’s Horticulture Insurance Scheme and Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. He said Rs 1.02 crore in incentive assistance was released to 30 farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana during the programme.

The Chief Minister further informed that more than 3,000 beekeepers from Haryana had registered on the National Honey Revolution Portal. He also inspected stalls related to honey production, beekeeping, and employment opportunities in the sector.
