Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has launched its Pay as You Save rooftop solar programme for commercial and industrial consumers in Punjab, enabling businesses to adopt renewable energy without any upfront investment. The company aims to install 200 MW of rooftop solar capacity across the state’s industrial and commercial sector over the next three years through an innovative financing model.
The initiative, introduced under the Sustainable Edge programme, allows businesses to install rooftop solar systems through affordable monthly EMIs or lease rentals linked to the estimated savings generated from solar power. According to the company, the model is designed to improve cash flow while supporting a gradual transition to clean energy. TPREL said its SunSmart Flexi EMI programme offers collateral-free financing, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment options and a fully digital approval process, making rooftop solar adoption easier for enterprises of all sizes.
Addressing the launch, Tata Power Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Praveer Sinha said the Pay as You Save model enables commercial and industrial consumers in Punjab to shift to renewable energy without making any upfront investment while benefiting from predictable savings.
The company said Punjab’s strong industrial base, which includes textiles, bicycle manufacturing, engineering goods, auto components, foundries, food processing, and agricultural equipment, is increasingly turning to renewable energy as electricity costs rise and sustainability becomes a key business priority. Alongside the rooftop solar programme, TPREL also showcased its Battery Energy Storage Systems portfolio under the Tata Power Battery Storage brand. The solutions range from 5 kWh to 50 MWh and are designed for residential and commercial applications.
TPREL currently has more than 5,661 rooftop solar installations across Punjab. With the new programme, the company plans to further expand clean energy adoption among commercial and industrial consumers while supporting businesses in reducing energy costs and improving long term sustainability.
