Shimla, May 18

BJP state president Rajeev Bindal on Monday said the results of the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh reflected a clear public mandate against the Congress government in the state.

Addressing the media in Shimla, Bindal claimed that BJP-supported candidates secured victories in 18 out of 25 municipal councils and 12 out of 22 nagar panchayats, describing the outcome as a historic win for the party. He said the results showed growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government and added that voters had rejected the ruling party over issues such as inflation, unemployment, corruption, and administrative failures.

Bindal stated that the BJP performed strongly in Bilaspur, Kangra, Mahasu, Solan, Una and Sundernagar regions. He claimed that BJP-supported candidates won all municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Una district, achieving a clean sweep in Solan district. The BJP leader also said the party’s victories in areas represented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the deputy chief minister and Congress ministers indicated declining public support for the ruling government.

Calling the civic poll outcome a “trailer” for the 2027 Assembly elections, Bindal expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Himachal Pradesh with a full majority. He thanked urban voters, party workers and supporters for the victory and said the BJP would continue working towards development, transparent governance and public welfare in the state.
