Kolkata, May 7

The West Bengal Legislative Assembly was formally dissolved today after completing its five-year term, according to an official notification issued by the state’s Department of Parliamentary Affairs.
Governor R N Ravi ordered the dissolution with effect from May 7, bringing the tenure of the outgoing assembly to an end.
The assembly had been constituted in May 2021 after the All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, secured a third consecutive term in office.
The dissolution follows the conclusion of the recently held two-phase elections and marks the formal end of the current legislative cycle in the eastern Indian state.
