Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday praised the courage and bravery displayed by the Indian armed forces during Operation Sindoor and said the operation remains a symbol of pride, honour and gratitude for the country.

Marking the first anniversary of the military operation, the Haryana Chief Minister said the armed forces had shown exceptional discipline and determination while responding to threats from Pakistan.

“One year ago, our brave soldiers displayed unmatched courage, valour and discipline against Pakistan and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment towards the security of the nation,” Saini said.

He extended his greetings and best wishes to Army personnel, their families and citizens across the country on the occasion.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7 last year following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, most of them tourists, were killed. During the operation, Indian armed forces carried out airstrikes targeting nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The military action led to a sharp rise in tensions between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan launching retaliatory attacks in the following days. However, most of the strikes were intercepted by Indian forces.

The hostilities ended on May 10 after military officials from both countries discussed via the hotline and agreed to halt further military action.

Saini said the anniversary of Operation Sindoor serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and dedication of the armed forces in safeguarding the country’s security and sovereignty.
