Chandigarh, November 7
The Punjab government on Saturday announced a Diwali bonanza for its employees, approving a 40% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for 6,507 computer teachers and regularising the services of 1,007 non-teaching employees working under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the DA increase would raise the allowance for computer teachers under the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES) from 181% to 221%.
Announcing the decisions on Saturday, Mann said the government had also approved the regularisation of 1,007 non-teaching employees working under Samagra Shiksha, providing them with greater job security and stability. The chief minister added that these regularised employees would also receive salary-related benefits under the government’s decision.
He said the state government was committed to employees’ welfare and ensuring their financial security and a stable future.
“No stone is being left unturned to ensure the welfare of our employees and provide them with the benefits they deserve,” Mann said.
Extending Diwali greetings to the people of Punjab, the chief minister wished happiness, progress and prosperity for every household across the state.
