PAC reviews Himachal tourism and aviation projects in the Dharamshala meeting

Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur, along with members of the Public Accounts Committee, reviewed key tourism and civil aviation development projects in Himachal Pradesh during a meeting held in Dharamshala. The Public Accounts Committee meeting for 2025–26 was attended by senior officials from various central ministries, the state government, and related organizations.

Discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and the Himachal Pradesh government focused on projects under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, including the redevelopment of the Chintpurni temple. Thakur stressed the need for effective implementation of projects to strengthen tourism infrastructure and promote cultural and religious tourism in the state. Issues related to adventure tourism were also reviewed with state officials.

In another session with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI, NHIDCL, and other agencies, matters related to tolls, tariffs, and user charges in the state were discussed. Thakur also raised concerns regarding the recently imposed road tax in Himachal Pradesh.

During discussions with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA, AAI, and other stakeholders under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, he highlighted the need to improve air connectivity in the region. He also flagged issues related to the expansion of the Dharamshala airport and operational challenges at the Shimla airport.
