Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney on Friday said he believes that joining the Bharatiya Janata Party would allow him to serve Punjab more effectively and with greater dedication, citing the importance of support from the Center. His remarks come amid recent political developments in the state following multiple resignations from the Aam Aadmi Party.

In a post on social media platform X, Sahney described Punjab as an emotion, a legacy, and a shared responsibility. He expressed concern about what he termed a financial crisis and about the state’s uncertain conditions.

“Our state is going through a difficult financial crisis and uncertain times, and it deeply pains me,” he said. Emphasizing the need for stronger coordination, Sahney said he has always supported cooperative federalism and close Center-state partnerships. “I am convinced that by working together in this spirit, we can bring stability, growth, and hope back to Punjab,” he added.

He said his public life has been guided by the principle of Punjab first, describing it as a lifelong commitment. Highlighting his background, Sahney referred to his experience as a former bureaucrat and to his association with international platforms linked to SAARC and BRICS, as well as with global trade bodies.

“Being a Harvard alumnus and a former bureaucrat and having represented India on global platforms, I remain committed to elevating both Punjab and India’s voice on the global stage,” he said. In his post, Sahney also tagged senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reiterating his commitment.

Sahney’s remarks come in the backdrop of the resignations of seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party, signaling possible shifts in Punjab’s political landscape and indicating evolving alignments ahead of future developments.
